Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis gave a quick start to the Bangalore team chasing Punjab’s target of 210 runs. Both scored 30 runs in three overs. But, Kagiso Rabada, who came with his first over in the fourth over, gave the first blow to Bangalore by dismissing Virat for 20. After this, an over later, Rishi Dhawan also added to the problems of RCB by dismissing Faf du Plessis and Mahipal Lomror in his first over.

At one point, Bangalore’s team looked to be in good shape, but Rahul Chahar added trouble again by getting Rajat Patidar caught at the hands of Shikhar Dhawan for 26 on the last ball of the 11th over. In the very next over, Harpreet Brar gave a blow to Bangalore’s hopes by dismissing Glenn Maxwell for 35. After the dismissal of these two players, none of the RCB batsmen could last long and returned to the pavilion one by one.

Dinesh Karthik too could only score 11 runs. Mohammad Siraj and Jose Hazlewood remained at the crease till the last and saved the team from all-out, but could not save the defeat.

Earlier at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and called Punjab to bat first. After this, Punjab scored 50 runs in the first four overs on the basis of the batting of Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan. Glenn Maxwell gave him the first blow in the form of Shikhar Dhawan (21) in the fifth over.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa also scored a run and returned to the pavilion after being dismissed by Hasranga. At the other end, Bairstow continued his explosive batting and completed his fifty in 21 balls. With this, Punjab also completed its 100 runs in the ninth over itself. However, in the next over, Bairstow scored 66 runs in 29 balls and was dismissed by Shahbaz.
