RJD’s Bahubali MLA from Mokama in Bihar, Anant Singh, convicted of possessing an AK-47 rifle at home, has been sentenced to 10 years under the Arms Act. The MP-MLA court in Patna sentenced Singh to this. AK-47 rifles and other weapons were recovered from his house.
The special court had convicted Anant Singh on June 14. In 2019, AK-47 rifles, 33 live cartridges and two hand grenades were recovered from his ancestral residence in Ladwan village. The MP-MLA court of Patna had announced the announcement of the sentence on June 21 after completing the hearing on Monday. Anant Singh is currently lodged in Beur Jail in Patna.
The search operation lasted for 11 hours
The then ASP of Bihar’s Barh district, Lipi Singh, had claimed that he had solid information about arms smuggling. After this the police raided the house of Anant Singh. After a search operation that lasted for about 11 hours, a huge amount of weapons were found from his ancestral residence.
In police custody since 2019
After the raid, the Bihar Police arrested the caretaker of Anant Singh’s ancestral residence. Bahubali MLA Anant Singh absconded as soon as he got the information. However, four days later, he surrendered in Delhi’s Saket court. After this the Bihar Police had brought them to the flood. He is in police custody since 2019.
